MINUTES FOR MEETING OF 14th JUNE 2006 .

VENUE: Cockburnspath Primary School.

    1.1. PRESENT: John Hay, Clifford Bertram, Fiona Deeming (Minutes Secretary), Angela Brading, Matt Deeming. Peter Hood, Jean Virtue,  Marnie
           McGregor, Tom Dean, Kate Tulloch. Councillor John Elliot (Duns and District North SBC), Inspector Milne, (Lothian and Borders Police). Mrs Swanson,
           Ken Underwood, DaveThorburn.
    1.2. Apologies:

2. ADOPTION OF MINUTES OF 12th APRIL 2006
     2.1. Minutes discussed and accepted.

3. POLICE MATTERS.
    3.1. Inspector Milne gave a brief description of the manning levels within the Borders area, and an overview of crimes in the Borders.
    3.2. The post office “contact centre” in Chirnside had been a success and had 55 contacts in the last year.
    3.3. There is still a problem with “bogus callers”, mainly pretending to be water board employees, in the area.
    3.4. ALWAYS report a problem, even anonymously, It is difficult to “follow up” passed events.

4. MATTERS ARRISING.
    4.1. Smiley sign, replaced, but only temporary, every 4-6 weeks, it is hoped to get it back to its original location.
    4.2. Extra car parking Crofts Rd, no new money.
    4.3. Sets outside Bank House, attended to.
    4.4. Scottish Health Council, news. The purpose of the council is to represent patients and the public in the NHS especially “hard to reach groups”, there is a
           complaints procedure. The next meeting is in August.
    4.5. New strimmer, SBC to pay £188.

5. CORRESPONDENCE.
    5.1. Letters received.
       5.1.1. Local plan, reply. John dealing with.
       5.1.2. Southern Upland partnership, leaflet, to be handed round.
       5.1.3. Information Community councils special project funds available 2006/7.
       5.1.4. Trading Standards matters, circulating.
       5.1.5. SBC, second local transport strategy 2006, circulating.
       5.1.6. Notification of National standards for community engagement, seminar.
       5.1.7. Parliamentary Update from D Bowden MSP South Scotland.
       5.1.8. Post Watch Scotland, circulating.
       5.1.9. Standing up to Anti-social behaviour, leaflets.

6. PLANNING MATTERS.
    6.1. Multiple application for Old Cambus west mains. Conversion of steading and new build. No objections as long as new build in keeping.
    6.2. Old Smiddy, new chimney. No objections.
    6.3. Floral Cottage, extension to rear and velux window. No objections.

7. ANY OTHER BUSINESS.
    7.1. Congratulations to Cockburnspath Primary School for getting the “Green Flag” for Eco Schools.
    7.2. A grant of £615 received from SBC.
    7.3. Floral Gateway, 23rd June 2006.
    7.4. Roads generally through the village are potholed and rough, there is also a damp patch, possible a water main leak, outside “Seaview”.
    7.5. The dyke on The Pease Rd seems to have been partially completed, when its the rest of the repair work to be done?.
    7.6. The Cove notice board is falling to bits, a quote for £30 has been received for a new front, there were no objections, quote accepted.
