COCKBURNSPATH COMMUNITY COUNCIL
MINUTES FOR MEETING OF 14th JULY 2004.

VENUE: Cockburnspath Primary School.

1. PRESENT:
1.1. John Hay (Chairman), Clifford Bertram (Vice Chairman), David Munro (Secretary), Fiona Deeming (Minutes Secretary), Paul Wheelhouse, Marnie McGregor, Jean Virtue, Matt Deeming, Councillor John Elliot (Duns and District North SBC). Sue McGregor, Don Wainwright (Members of the community)

1.2.APOLOGIES:
Angela Brading (Treasurer), Jane Hood.

2. ADOPTION OF MINUTES FOR 9th JUNE 2004.
2.1. Minutes discussed and adopted.

3. CRYSTAL RIG, CC CHAIRS MEETING:
3.1. John said that the chairs of the various Community Councils involved with the Crystal Rig Community Fund had a productive meeting. He also read a letter Donald Speirs had sent containing the minutes and a number of answers to questions raised, a copy is with the Minutes Secretary if anyone wishes to read it themselves.

4. ANY OTHER BUSINESS:
4.1.Village Hall Committee: submitted a draft application to the Crystal Rig community fund via the CC for funding towards the play park / skateboard area, of £3000.
4.2. Crofts Acre dog walk: The amount of dog dirt left on the path by owners is getting so bad that should it continue the path will no longer be trimmed.
4.3. Printing of Minutes: At present Fiona / Matt are using their own printer to print the CC minutes, which is not really up to the task, Matt has sourced a laser printer on the internet which would be better for the job. The cost is £93.06. CC authorised the purchase of the printer
4.4. Strimmer / Brush cutter: required servicing. CC authorised taking it to Ewart Thorburn, Duns.
4.5. Planning applications:
4.5.1. Another Vodafone mast, this time at Linhead, Given the CC general feeling on the impact of masts in a visually beautiful area. David will send the standard CC response.
4.5.2. Sue McGregor notified the CC that she is submitting an application for a skylight in her house overlooking the graveyard, no objections from the residents was envisaged.
4.6. Grass Verges: It was noted that a number of verges around the village were in dire need of trimming, notably Dovecote Hall and the old Al both from Pathhead and Chapel Hill
4.7. Housing Needs Survey: Received and doing the rounds.
4.8. Jane Hood has been admitted to the BGH with a chest infection. The CC sends its best wishes, Marnie will organise a get well card
4.9. Hoprig, further development:
Don Wainwright voiced his opposition to further development at Hoprig, amongst his reasons were; No-one in the area wishes for a Hoprig village or an inner-city development in the middle of the country. Traffic and road safety are a real concern to all the people who already live there, further development could only worsen the issue. It would appear that most of the current residents of Hoprig had the same opinions.
