MINUTES FOR MEETING OF 8th DECEMBER 2004.
VENUE: Cockburnspath Primary School.
2. ADOPTION OF MINUTES OF 10th NOVEMBER 2004.
2.1. Minutes discussed and accepted.
3. MATTERS ARISING.
3.1. Village Christmas Tree: John expressed the council's thanks to
Callum Brown, Alan Patterson, David Braden and John Evans for putting the
tree up, and to Ronnie Dale for the gift of the said tree. (Already it
has been noticed that 3 bulbs are missing). Is there any chance of Planting
a live tree permanently (needs some investigation).
3.2. Overgrown garden: It was reported that work was on going, "watch
this space".
3.3. Toll View Footpath: Matt reported that the meeting with the engineer
went well and is expecting a drawing showing construction and route soon.
4. PLANNING APPLICATIONS.
4.1. School House: Application to change roof from Scottish slate to
Spanish slate (John to enquire as to the difference, if any).
4.2. New Garage: As of yet the Community Council has received no plans
for the proposed new garage (John will also enquire into this), as the
council wish to show it's support for this.
5. LETTERS:
5.1. Community fund; John has received a letter from Donald Spiers
confirming the increase in the community fund by 10% to £4375 when
the latest 5 turbines are up and running.
6. ANY OTHER BUSINESS:
6.1. Strimmer: Matt reported the strimmer has been collected for checking,
it is envisaged that it will fail and won't be back.
6.2. Verge between dipping pens and Braeside: It was reported that
the verge is overgrown with brambles and weeds. A tractor with a grass/hedge
cutter was seen in the area recently, the situation will be monitored.
6.3. Strong smell: Recently a strong smell in the Crofts Acre and Callander
Place area has been noticed the source is unknown.
6.4.Viridor: Jane was at the latest meeting, which discussed recycling
in E. Lothian, and they will soon be utilising the methane to generate
power for the site. John thanked Jane for going to these meetings.
6.5. Wheelie bins: the SBC intends to phase wheelie bins in from April
'05.
6.6. Bench seats: The council offers it thanks to who ever it was who
tidied up around the bench seats on the Coldingham Rd lay byes.
6.7. Chapel Hill: The private road up to the farm is often running
with water it is not sure if it is a field drain or sewage. If it gets
bad it can run onto the main road, and freeze in the cold weather.
6.8. Village hall car park and entrance: Was flooded this week, a yellow
lorry/bowser was seen in the vicinity on Tuesday evening it did not appear
to be an SBC one and did it flush its tank or use a standpipe?
