COCKBURNSPATH COMMUNITY COUNCIL

MINUTES FOR MEETING OF 10th AUGUST 2005.

VENUE: Cockburnspath Primary School.

1. PRESENT: John Hay (Chairman), Clifford Bertram (Vice Chairman), Angela Brading (Treasurer), Fiona Deeming (Minutes Secretary), Jane Hood, Jean Virtue, Paul Wheelhouse, Marnie McGregor, Matt Deeming, Councillor John Elliot (Duns and District North SBC, plus 5 members of the community.

2. ADOPTION OF MINUTES OF 13t" July 2005 2.1. Minutes discussed and accepted.

3. MATTERS ARISING.
3.1. Callander Place Fence: John had spoken to Julie Bell, it would appear that at no time had there been verbal permission for the fence. Council will continue to monitor the situation.
3.2. Hanging Baskets: The baskets a generally appreciated.
3.3. Grass Cutting: There has been a noticed improvement to the grass cutting by Council in this week.
3.4. Portakabin (Football Hut): There has been a number of concerns raised by members of the community whose properties adjoin the area around the "football hut", namely noise, shouting and bad language, by young people of all ages, well into the late evening. Incursions into back gardens through hedges, and damage to said hedges. As well as litter and other objects thrown over hedges. It was suggested that these concerns be raised direct with the Village Hall committee, Ken Underwood (V H C Chair') agreed.

4. PLANNING MATTERS:
4.1. Hoprig: After the refusal by the SBC to allow permission for a house at Hoprig, the contactors have lodged an appeal.
4.2. Burnside: application received to, demolish present building an replace with dwelling, as the footprint will be not much different and the replacement in keeping, no objections.

5. LETTERS
5.1. New Ways Awards, circular, received
5.2. Scottish Health Council, circular, passed round.

6. ANY OTHER BUSINESS:
6.1. Crystal Rig: Some of the community fund awards have been paid but there was a mix up over a couple , they
       are to be reviewed.
6.2. Toll View Path: Matt had a meeting with Ian Gaul. As part of the planning consent it would appear that an adopted path from Toll View to the Village, tarred and street lit, is to be part of the development is the gravel path we were considering worth pursuing, general thoughts, not at this stage.
6.3. Cove coastguard lookout Cottage: Is the new exterior colour in keeping, and was it agreed by SBC in planning permission? John Elliot to investigate.
6.4. Bench seat: A request has been made for two benches to be put in the toddlers play area at the village hall, as we have had concerns over the positioning of one of the bench seats in the square, it will be repositioned in the play area.
6.5. Miles Swanson: The Community Council send their condolences to Miles' family, he will be missed greatly within the community.
6.6. Paul: As Paul, Lorna and Rory will be moving to Ayton soon this is Paul's last meeting, John Thanked Paul for all his hard work and
wished them every happiness.
