MINUTES FOR ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 8th OCTOBER 2008

Venue:  Cockburnspath Primary School.

1. Present: John Hay (Chairman), Clifford Bertram (Vice Chairman), Angela Brading (Treasurer), Tom Dean (Secretary), Marnie McGregor, Jean Virtue, Peter Hood, David Arnott, Kate Tulloch, Councillor David Raw, and  7 members of the community.

2. Adoption of minutes from 10th  October 2007
      Minutes discussed and accepted

3. Chairmans` Report
3.1. At long last the Cove Development has been put to rest.
3.2. The Appeal for the Defibrillator was a tremendous success due to the hard work the ladies committee put into it.
3.3. We have helped the Mothers and Toddlers Group and the Gala Committee with money from the Wind Farm Fund.
3.4. We had a visit from the RAF for a talk on Low Flying in the area, another from Susan Black who explained the   working of the Drug and Alcohol Team and one from the Torness British Energy Nuclear Police who explained their role.
3.5. We nominated the local Post Office and shop for `The Best Retailer Award` and Clare received our congratulations for being runner up.
3.6. The Eyemouth Disaster Commemorative Plaque will be dedicated at the Cove this month.
3.7. Councillor Raw with the help of the C.C. is still hoping to find somewhere for the local youths to `hang out`.
3.8. 2 wooden seats have been installed on part of the Southern Upland Way, thanks to Euan Calvert, the County Access Officer.
3.9. A sign has been placed pointing to the BankHead Cemetery.
3.10. The Christmas tree was also a success thanks to heavy brigade but the lights will have to be replaced; to be discussed later.
3.10. We were happy to learn that the Post Office was to remain open.
3.11. At long last the Old Coastguard Cottage, Cove, is subject to a planning enforcement case because of some divergence from the approved plans.
3.12. Some tidying up work has been done at the house in the old station yard.
3.12. There is still no reply from B.H.A. Re: Fence and overgrown trees.
Finally I would like to thank all the C.C. Members for their support to me over the year, having such an agreeable party it makes my job so much easier.
Special thanks to Tom who still does most of the work, Angela for looking after the pennies and Kate for the work she puts in with the NHS and Viridor.
We are also very lucky to have Councillor David Raw as our local councillor as he is very attentive to all our requirements and complaints, especially the drainage in Bankhead Cemetery.
I know that last year I said I would retire now but I have changed my mind again so if you want me to stay on as a member I am willing to do so.

4.  Treasurers` Report
The books were still with Mr. Mitchell for checking. Angela stated that the Income for the year was £1512 which with a carry over from 2007 of £2538 was a Total of £4050. Expenditure for the year was £3061 made up of £2200 Crystal Rig Grants, £440 donations and £461 miscellaneous items. The Current A/C balance is £989, cash in hand £19 and Liaison a/c £450

5. Election of Office Bearers:
5.1.  Chairman: John Hay, Proposed: Jean Virtue. Seconded: Marnie McGregor.
5.2. Vice Chairman: Clifford Bertram, Proposed Tom Dean. Seconded:Peter Hood.
5.3. Secretary: Tom Dean, Proposed:Peter Hood. Seconded: Clifford Bertram.
5.4. Treasurer: Angela Brading, Proposed: Peter Hood. Seconded: Tom Dean.

Co-opted members Kate Tulloch and David Arnott  agreed to continue in that roll.
 

6. CLOSING THE AGM.
There being no further business, John Hay closed the meeting.
