Rural Housing Service to Undertake a Survey of Housing Needs

Derek Logie of the Rural Housing Service recently came to give a presentation to the community council at Cockburnspath. Derek provided a background to the Rural Housing Service and the important work they have been commissioned by the Scottish Borders Council to undertake in order to help identify the true extent of housing need in the community and the condition of the housing stock. We are all aware of the rapidly escalating house prices, due to the Edinburgh effect and development of the A1 to motorway standard, allied to a longstanding problem of holiday home ownership, so this is a vitally important piece of research.
