East Berwickshire Tourism Association formed
.
A GROUP of East Berwickshire tourism operators
have formed a local association aimed at representing the needs of the
industry in the area. By focusing on the attractions that Berwickshire's
coast has to offer visitors rather than those commonly promoted elsewhere
in the Borders, the new association hopes it can work with the area tourist
board and other interested parties to market East Berwickshire. In particular,
the group is keen to work with neighbouring coastal tourism groups in East
Lothian and Northumberland to increase awareness of the attractions of
the Border coastal area and its immediate inland surrounds. It has already
started work on projects aimed at increasing visitor awareness including
plans to install a small mobile "information centre" at the Lamberton layby
for the coming summer season and steps to link together local community
websites to provide greater information to internet enquiries. Membership
of the East Berwickshire Tourism Association (EBTA) is open to all local
tourism businesses and visitor attractions and interested parties should
contact the group's chairman Dave Jones on 018907 71760 or secretary Barbara
Wood on 71715. (Extract from Berwickshire News)
