More influence for Berwickshire at Scottish
Borders Council
The new Independent/Conservative council administration
has been taking shape and a number of key positions have been taken by
members representing Berwickshire wards. Eyemouth South & District
councillor, Michael Cook (Ind), has been appointed Depute Leader, while
Coldstream & District councillor Jock Law (Ind) has been appointed
vice chairman of the highly influential Scrutiny Committee and is also
on the licensing board (east). Duns and District South councillor Margaret
McGrave (Con) has been appointed chairman of the standards committee; and
Chirnside and District councillor, James Fullarton (Con), has been appointed
vice chairman of the building control committee and is also on the licensing
board (east). Duns and District North councillor, John Elliot (Ind), is
joint portfolio holder for economic development and environmental planning
at the Council, as well as being, once again, the chairman of the Berwickshire
Area Committee. George Russell, councillor for Eyemouth north and District,
has also joined the licensing board (east).
